On 14 October, Fintech Latvia Association and Nexpay brought together the fintech community for another Fintech Breakfast, exploring one of the key questions shaping the future of European payments: should non-bank payment and e-money institutions face regulatory requirements closer to those of banks?
The morning opened with keynote presentations by Zane Veidemane-Bērziņa from Ellex Klavins, who explored PSD3 governance and prudential requirements, and Andris Rozenbahs from D8 Corporation, who discussed changes to payment services regulation and their impact on fraud prevention.
The conversation continued with a panel featuring Jakub Więcław from Magnetiq Bank, Uldis Cērps from Finance Latvia Association, and Sandris Straume from Rietumu Banka, moderated by Sofian Berrahal from Nexpay.
The discussion brought together perspectives from across the financial sector, covering regulatory expectations, market competition, consumer protection, and the implications of bringing non-bank payment institutions closer to a bank-equivalent regulatory framework.
A big thank you to all our speakers and participants for the thoughtful exchange, engaging questions, and lively discussion. Special thanks to Sofian Berrahal and the Nexpay team for hosting us, and to Business Riga for supporting the event.
💙 Our Fintech Breakfast community continues to grow, creating space for meaningful conversations and connections across Latvia’s fintech ecosystem.
Organised by Fintech Latvia Association in collaboration with Nexpay.
